Staff Accountant IV - JFK University

This position is for JFK University, a National University System affiliate


Perform all accounting duties related to Revenue, Grant, Endowment and Donation related accounting along with other duties supporting tax, audit and general accounting requirements.


  • Perform all activities related to revenue accounting including but not limited to tuition, fees, grants, continuing education and other revenue sources. Validate billing and drivers of revenue and perform deferrals and all journaling as needed.
  • Perform all activities related to grant accounting including segmentation, tracking, journaling, reporting and other requirements as needed.
  • Perform all activities related to Endowment accounting, tracking and reporting as well as any journals associated with endowments.
  • Perform all activities associated with gift and donation accounting, tracking and reporting.
  • Perform all general ledger journals and drive monthly and annual close-out process for the university.
  • Perform all activities associated with the reporting of federal and local tax reporting including providing the schedules and support for requirements.
  • Prepare audit work products as needed.
  • Prepare monthly financial reporting package including profit and loss statement, balance sheet, cash flow and variance analysis
  • Perform other duties, reconciliations of other balance sheet accounts, and other departmental projects, as assigned.



  • Bachelor s degree in business administration with emphasis in accounting required, CPA preferred, or its equivalent work experience.


  • Minimum three (3) years as a staff accountant or related role preferably in higher education industry and non-profit tax status.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
